Terms of Service

Folio Studio is an online service that allows authors to transform markdown files into professionally formatted books (epub, PDF, docx). The service is available at foliostudio.app.

For information that users choose to make publicly available, including through a public Book Universe, Folio Studio provides a hosting service. The user chooses which elements are published and how long they remain published.

The service is published by Adrien Daniel Claude Maillard EI, a French individual entrepreneur registered under SIREN 108 317 595.

By using Folio Studio, you unconditionally accept these Terms of Service.

Access to the service requires creating an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your password.

Folio Studio offers several plans (Free, Starter, Pro); their details, limits and prices are listed on the site's Pricing page.

You retain all rights to the content you import and create on Folio Studio. By using the service, you grant us only a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process your content in order to provide the service.

When you publish a Book Universe, this license includes reproducing and making publicly available only the elements you selected, for the duration of the publication and solely to provide the public page and its related access links. It ends when you unpublish, except for information that must be retained to handle a dispute, comply with a legal obligation, or establish or defend rights.

The code, designs, templates and interface of Folio Studio are the exclusive property of their creators. Any reproduction or use without authorization is prohibited.

You are solely responsible for the content you import, create, share or export. You warrant that (a) you hold all rights necessary for this content and (b) this content is lawful and does not infringe any third-party right or applicable law.

You may not import, create, store, share or distribute:

• –illegal content, in particular child sexual abuse material, content glorifying terrorism, or inciting hatred, violence or discrimination
• –defamatory or abusive content, or content infringing the privacy or image rights of others
• –counterfeit content or content infringing third-party intellectual property rights
• –content intended to circumvent your plan limits, for spam, or for large-scale automated generation

Sharing your login credentials is also prohibited. You agree to indemnify Folio Studio against any third-party claim or action arising from content published in breach of these Terms.

Each public Book Universe includes a form available without an account. A quick report lets you alert Folio Studio anonymously. A formal legal notice lets you request a review of content you believe is illegal and provides a tracking reference.

A formal notice must identify the exact address and location of the content, explain the facts and grounds relied on, include the reporter's name and email address, and contain a good-faith confirmation. Supporting links may be added. Where the content falls within the legal identity exception for certain offences involving the sexual abuse of minors, the form allows the notice to be submitted without disclosing the reporter's identity. If the form is unavailable, these elements may be sent to abuse@foliostudio.app.

Folio Studio reviews every formal notice diligently, objectively and proportionately. When electronic contact details are provided, it acknowledges receipt and informs the reporter of its decision. A report never triggers automatic removal. Following human review, Folio Studio may keep, restrict, unpublish or remove content that breaches these Terms or the law, taking into account its nature, seriousness, context and any repeated breach. If content is restricted, the author receives the reason, basis, scope and duration of the measure and may request a review. Folio Studio does not conduct general monitoring of user content, without prejudice to legal removal or reporting duties that apply to certain content.

Prices and the recurring or one-off nature of each purchase are displayed before the order. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew at the selected interval until cancelled.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period; no pro-rated refund is applied, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.

Export unlocks and AI credit top-ups are one-off digital purchases. Before payment, you must expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge losing your withdrawal right once the service is fully performed or the credits are consumed. This acceptance is recorded and confirmed by email on a durable medium.

An unlock is considered consumed upon the first successful export that uses the purchase. An AI pack is considered consumed as soon as one of its credits is no longer available. A standard refund may be reviewed before consumption for a verified duplicate or technical failure and is refused after consumption. This rule does not restrict statutory conformity rights or any other mandatory legal right.

Folio Studio endeavors to keep the service accessible as much as possible. However, no 100% availability guarantee is given.

The service is provided "as is". Folio Studio shall not be liable for data loss or indirect damage resulting from the use of the service.

Folio Studio reserves the right to suspend or delete an account in the event of a violation of these Terms, without notice or refund.

You may delete your account at any time from your settings. All your data will be deleted within 30 days.

These Terms may be amended. In the event of a substantial change, you will be notified by email. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of France.
